Clara's Adventure - Updates on Clara's diagnosis with Leukemia

Home

As many of you already know, our beloved Clara was diagnosed with Leukemia ALL in February 2012. We feel overwhelmed with the love and support our friends, family, coworkers and community have provided us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Since we don’t have the time to keep everyone individually upated on her progress or latest news, we have decided to create a website/blog for Clara. The website will provide updates to those who want to check in on her, see how she’s doing, read her story, provide words of support and see pictures.

Nick and I both grew up in Port Coquitlam.  Nick graduated from Poco High School and I graduated from Terry Fox Senior High School.  We met in 1996 and the rest is history.  We got married in 2005 and one year later, October 2006 Clara was born.  As we both grew up in Port Coquitlam, we are proud to live and raise Clara and our son Brennan (3 years old) in this wonderful family community.

Clara was very active and social since the day she was born.  She participated in the Mommy and Me Program, Mom and Baby Yoga and Mother Goose when she was young.  As a 3 year old she was involved in My Gym, dancing and swimming.  When she was four, she continued to be socially involved showing interest in soccer with Poco Timbits Soccer and continued to dance doing Ballet and Hip Hop at Mellado Dance and went to Preschool at Discovery House.

As an active 5 year old, this year she was busy with Kindergarten at Blakeburn Elementary, Sparks, and Dance Classes at Mellado as well as swimming through Port Coquitlam Parks & Recreation.

We were shocked and in disbelief when Clara was sick and later diagnosed with Leukemia.  She was active and healthy.  How did this happen?

We are so thankful for our family, friends, coworkers, team mates and the local community for their support.  And thank you for your interest in her story.

I plan to blog at least once a week.  It will be mainly about her and her progress and a bit of our life will fall into this blog but I think it will be very helpful for everyone to understand her story.

HUGS!
Andrea, Nick, Clara & Brennan
